Historic redevelopment of a 181 acre former state-owned mental health facility. The project includes a baseball stadium (opened in April, 2016), hundreds of multi-family residential units (over 100 units occupied now and close to 500 units under construction), office, education (University of South Carolina’s Medical School), retail and entertainment.  Hughes Development has preserved and repurposed more than a dozen of the historic buildings on site.  From 2016 – 2021 SRC curated first-to-market and best in class retailers and restaurants, including REI, a food hall, that will occupy the historic chapel, Iron Hill Brewery, Starbuck’s and fashion to serve the affluent residential population and 35,000+ students all living within a few miles of the project.
